Medication Management
The Right Medication, Carefully Managed
For many people living with mental health conditions, medication can be a vital part of recovery – not as a replacement for therapy, but as a tool that makes healing possible. At Behavioral Medical Center in Troy, MI, our psychiatric providers take a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to medication management, ensuring that every prescription decision is made with care, context, and your long-term wellbeing in mind.
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Before recommending any medication, our providers conduct a thorough psychiatric evaluation to understand your full history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. From there, we work collaboratively with you to develop a medication plan that fits your needs – and we continue to monitor and adjust that plan over time as your situation evolves.
What to Expect
Medication management at BMC-Troy is an ongoing relationship, not a one-time prescription. Your provider will:
- Review your full psychiatric and medical history
- Discuss the potential benefits and side effects of any recommended medications
- Start at the lowest effective dose and adjust gradually
- Schedule regular follow-up appointments to monitor your response
- Coordinate with your therapist or outside providers when appropriate
We treat a wide range of conditions with medication support, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and more. Our goal is always to use medication as purposefully and conservatively as possible – supporting your overall treatment plan rather than defining it.
You’re Always in the Driver’s Seat
We believe informed patients make better decisions about their care. Your provider will take time to answer your questions, explain your options, and respect your preferences. If something isn’t working, we want to know – and we’ll work with you to find a better path forward.
Telehealth appointments are available for medication management visits, making it easier to stay consistent with your care from the comfort of home.
Our current policy for appointments with a prescriber is that two in person visits are required from January to December. The remaining appointments can be by telehealth or in person. This is subject to change, depending on insurance company and malpractice support of telehealth along with DEA guidelines for those prescribed federally controlled medications.
To schedule a psychiatric evaluation or medication management appointment, visit bmctroy.com and go to the Electronic Forms tab to complete the New Patient Intake Form – we will call you back within 1–2 business days to schedule your appointment. If you have any questions, call us at 248.528.9000.
