QbTest for ADHD

QbTest for ADHD: An Objective Measure for a More Accurate Diagnosis

If you or your child has been struggling with attention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity, getting an accurate diagnosis is the critical first step toward effective treatment. At the Behavioral Medical Center-Troy in Michigan, we offer the QbTest – an FDA-cleared, computerized assessment tool that provides objective data to help our providers diagnose and monitor ADHD with greater confidence and precision.

Unlike traditional evaluations that rely solely on behavioral questionnaires and clinical history, the QbTest measures three core ADHD symptoms simultaneously: inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity – in a single 15 to 20-minute session.

How It Works

The QbTest uses a combination of a computer-based task and motion tracking technology to capture real-time data on how a patient performs under controlled conditions. During the test, the patient responds to visual cues on a screen while a small infrared sensor tracks physical movement. The results are then compared against a large normative database matched for age and gender, producing a detailed report that gives our clinical team an objective baseline to work from.

The test is available for both children and adults, and can be used for:

  • Initial ADHD diagnosis
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of medication or behavioral interventions over time
  • Ruling out ADHD when symptoms may have another cause

Why It Matters

ADHD is frequently underdiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or confused with other conditions like anxiety, learning disabilities, or mood disorders. The QbTest helps remove the guesswork, giving patients and families clearer answers and helping our providers design more targeted, effective treatment plans.

The QbTest is just one component of a comprehensive ADHD evaluation at BMC-Troy. Our providers will review results alongside clinical interviews, history, and other assessments to ensure a thorough and accurate picture of your – or your child’s – needs.
