Clinical Research Trials
Dr. Amann and the Behavioral Medical Center participate in various clinical research trials in children, adolescents and adults. These are FDA mandated studies done in order to understand the safety and efficacy of medications. Some of these medications are not yet available at the pharmacy, as they have not yet been approved by the FDA. Others are studied after they have already come to the market, for various other possible uses.
Research opportunities offer a means for our patients to utilize innovative, new medications at little to no cost (dependent on the protocol) and to work directly with Dr. Amann and her research team with the goal of decreasing psychiatric symptoms, and improving overall quality of life.
At times, participants are paid a stipend for expenses related to their visits. This is not the case for every trial, however.

Dr. Birgit Amann, Vikki Schmidt, LMSW and David Lundin, MA, LPC, LLP work together with pharmaceutical companies to study medications in a variety of disease states. These clinical trials are closely monitored and highly regulated by independent third parties.
